•Review: The Man Who Was Poe is an excellent book, describing what it was like moving to Providence, R.I in the 1890’s. The description of the dark gloomy alleyways make you feel like you are part of the story, running along with Edmond from the bread shop to your house. It’s suspenseful and sad but also happy and fulfilling. It gives you a perfect sense how the main character, Edmond responds to being alone in a city with filled with threatening people. The characters are complex yet their actions are easy to understand their actions. When Edmond goes out to buy bread for himself and his sister, he comes home to find his sister missing. Just when he thinks things couldn’t get any stranger, he meets a mysterious man, who says he can help. With his mom missing and his aunt nowhere to be found, Edmond has nowhere else to turn, so he follows this mysterious man and they start to unravel the mystery. Edmond begins to realize that the man is not who he seems to be. This is a fast paced mystery, you will not be able to put down, and you will fall in love with Edmond.
